About Me
As a child, I began my educational journey in several private schools in BC and Alberta, as well as home schooling. I am a lifelong learner and have amassed an extensive library. When I was in my fifties, I started my formal training to help prepare myself for doing this work of helping women in crisis.
2024
Earned a Life and Health Coach Certificate, through the Health Coach Institute.
2021
Graduated with honors from Northern Lakes College (Slave Lake, Alberta) with a 2-year Social Work Diploma.
Completed my practicum at Lethbridge Soup Kitchen.
Became a member of the Alberta College of Social Workers.
Currently working as a Home Study Practitioner, writing Home Study Reports for adoption and private guardianship.
Have spent the last 3 years working for an organization that provides supports to persons with disabilities living in their own homes (I also live with and support my own aging mother).
Have been a foster parent for 23 years, including special needs work – Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, attachment issues, and ADHD.
Attended hundreds of foster parent trainings and spoke publicly at foster parent events.
Have had experience in dealing with teenage substance abuse and working with the court system.
Experienced in domestic conflict issues, including sexual addiction and infidelity.
Have been a guest speaker at several women's retreats.
Provided support to women going through hard times.
Taught in a Mennonite school and home schooled my own children.
I'm also a mother to 7 and grandmother to 12, having spent many years single parenting both biological and foster children.
